Mega - WOW: JT Foxx's Mega Partnering VI Tops the Charts

I just got back this morning from Los Angeles,  California where I spent invested most of the last week (Wednesday through Monday) getting my head crammed full of the most powerful business building information while rubbing elbows with about 650 of the most successful entrepreneurs in the US and with some of the most amazing celebrities who you never knew were business geniuses (genii) when out of the public eye.

You may recall a tiny little entertainment company named Disney?  Well, we were party to the most amazing conversation with the man who took Disney from $1.3B to $60B (yes, that is Billion, with a "B"), Michael Eisner.

JT didn't do a "Mickey Mouse Job" in the interview. An experienced and talented talk-radio host, he did a fantastic job of drawing out the usually staid Mr. Eisner into a wonderful and revealing interview about how he achieved such amazing results at Disney, his rock-solid long term marriage, and his personal and working relationship with Apple and Pixar founder, Steve Jobs.

After the speech, Mr, Eisner attended a gala dinner with select attendees from the Mega Partnering event.  One of the ladies at the table with Mr. and Mrs. Eisner told us that Mrs. Eisner said she had NEVER seen her husband so relaxed and having so much fun in an interview. 

Rumor has it that Mr. Eisner has indicated to JT that he would like to attend the next Mega Partnering in June of 2013.  I can't wait!

As if having one of the most successful CEO's in the world come to teach us, JT had to bring one of the most beautiful and successful businesswomen in the world to teach us also.  Former Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Model turned business tycoon Kathy Ireland regaled us with her story and business savvy.

She is both beautiful and charming.  But, don't let the good looks fool you guys!  This woman has a real head for business.  Take a minute to check our her main website http://kathyireland.com/.  After she decided she had enough of striking stunning poses in bikinis in front of the camera, Kathy moved act to the board room where she has been quietly building a business empire that is her real legacy.  

She started her empire by selling socks!  Now, she has lines of apparel, flooring, linens, wedding dresses, jewelry, and the list seems to go on and on and on.

What was this fabulous event with a cornucopia of celebrities, entrepreneurs, millionaires, billionaires, and business moguls?  This was the sixth semi-annual Mega Partnering (www.MegaPartnering.com).

As a veteran attendee of Mega Partnering (I have been at all six events), I knew I was in for a week that would be jammed packed full of powerful insider business information designed to help me move my business forward by leaps and bounds.  And, I knew from experience that JT Foxx (JTFoxx.com) excels at bringing in some of the sharpest business minds in the world today.  But, I was still blown away by this conference.  WOW seems like too small a reaction by orders of magnitude.

Just to give you a glimpse of what we got (I am including links so if you don't know who these folks are, you can go check them out yourself).

Dr. Ivan Misner (http://ivanmisner.com/) taught us about how to unleash the true power of networking (done the right way) to create sustainable business growth based on giving value first and then monetizing our relational capital.  Yes, it sounds kind of mercenary, but it is anything but that.

I was introduced to the conference by "The Voice of Champions" Michael Buffer (http://www.letsrumble.com/main.html).  I was also able to renew my friendship with Michael's younger brother, Bruce Buffer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IxJxyGXAdo) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8IrFQ-U8rY).

Before I close out (or pass out... I came in from Mega Partnering on a red-eye from LA just this morning and I haven't been to bed since 7AM yesterday), I wanted to put a plug in for a friend of mine who spoke at Mega Partnering, Chris Van Cleemput.  I just bought his Kindle book after hearing him speak about this to the crowd and Mega Partnering.  If you have ever been in a relationship where you felt taken-advantage-of, you need to read this and apply it.  When I heard him talk about it, I realized why some of my business relationships have been dysfunctional and what I can do about it.

Poison - Not Just a Pretty Face

When we look at folks in the entertainment business we usually just see a pretty face.  Thanks to my mentor JT Foxx, I have learned that some of those pretty faces have some really amazing business minds behind them.

Last year I met Gene Simmons of Kiss and discovered a man who is a branding genius and a phenomenal businessman.

This year, JT Foxx (www.JTFoxx.com) and the folks at Top One Coaching (www.TopOneCoaching.com) brought Bret Michaels, the lead singer and guitarist from Poison to speak to hundreds of successful entrepreneurs at Mega Partnering V in Dallas, Texas.  Sitting in the front row for the entire event, I was able to capture the last few words of advice that Bret Michaels gave us on a short video.  Listen and learn!

I hope that you find that as valuable as I do.  The music business is one where you can be "here today and gone later today." Because most of us don't work in an environment with such a tiny attention span, our "products" and our triumphs tend to win a bit more breathing room for us in our careers and with our customers.  Unfortunately that can often lead us to complacency and the misguided belief that just because we did great things for our clients or our company last month (or last year), they will take care of us into the future.

The harsh reality is that whatever good we have done for our clients often fades very quickly.  And, if we don't do something of real value for them today, they will probably be knocking on the door of our competitor tomorrow.  This isn't disloyalty, it us just reality. 

Every day a business needs to make money.  Every day, people need to earn money.  If they don't businesses will close and people won't eat.  We can never afford to rest on our past accomplishments for more than a nano-second.  Instead, we need to always be looking for ways we can add value to those around us - our employer, our boss, our coworkers, our clients.

As the stocks and bonds crowd has to say, "past performance is not indicative of future results."  Even though the government regulators make everyone say that, we all know that no one in their right mind continues to invest with someone who keeps picking losers.

Chatting with Bret Michaels and listening to him speak I discovered a guy who both enjoys his life and doesn't let his success blind him to the need to continually deliver value to his clients by giving them music that they enjoy and which has enduring value.

That is a tune I believe everyone should be singing.

Co-Founder of Apple, Trump and Poison

What do the co-founder of Apple Computer, Steve Wozniak, the heir to the Trump legacy, Eric Trump and Bret Michaels the lead singer from Poison all have in common?  Me!

Last week, I had a Mega-WOW at Mega Partnering V in Dallas Texas!

Yes, that is me in all three pictures! Although the first two were red carpet photos, in coming days I hope to be able to post the videos of me chatting with each of these guys in a private reception where I got to meet them one-on-one.  You might notice that the picture with Bret Michaels is in his private tour bus where I was able to meet with him and chat one-on-one for several minutes.

As great as it was to meet and talk with Bret Michaels and Eric Trump, the highlight for me was visiting with Steve Wozniak.

I was working in ComputerLand when the Apple Lisa was created (it was the immediate predecessor of the Apple Macintosh).  I remember selling the Apple, the Apple II and the Apple IIe.  Most people using a personal computer these days, have never seen or even heard of an Apple IIe and very few people ever saw the Lisa or even knew it existed.

For all you techno-philes out there (like me), I have to tell you that Woz (as Steve Wozniak names himself on his card) is a real, dyed-in-wool, certifiable genius computer designer.  It isn't that he cannot program, because he can, but his real love is deep inside the computer chips, making them run like champions.  If the experts could do it with 30 chips, Woz would find a way to do it with 25 chips.

I found in his words, as he told his own story, some of the secrets to the success of Apple.

For him, it was a quest for excellence - always competing against his own personal best.  The result for Apple was that they could do more with fewer chips (and less cost) than anyone else around.  Hooking up that kind of brillance on the inside of the machine with Steve Jobs brilliance in the business is what made Apple the powerhouse it is today.

And, all that brilliance and genius is wrapped up inside of a genuinely nice guy who is as down to earth and friendly as anyone I have ever met.

You should have seen his eyes light up when I mentioned the Commodore Amiga!  Like me, he greatly admired the technical brilliance that it represented.  Unlike me, he had no real interest in the bad business decisions Commodore made that not only utterly failed to capitalize on their amazing product, but ultimately led to the demise of their company.

Woz is a technician and engineer, first, last and always.  Business just gives him the money he needs to pursue his lifelong passion for his real love - computers.

His wildly successful partnership with Steve Jobs illustrates how people with different skill sets can join together in a venture that truly makes the most of each and produces effects that change the world.

Things are breaking wide open for us here in the Charlotte Market.  I have just begun my “Tired Landlord Campaign” and we already have 16 properties we are looking at.  And guess who brought them to the table????  My #1 student apprentice – Lori!!!

So what is my “Tired Landlord Campaign”?  It is really simple!  I am reaching out to landlords to find out if they are sick of all the hassles of toilets, termites, and tenants.  I offer them a better alternative!  I convert them from being landlords to being bankers.

When was the last time you called your banker and said, “hey dude, the tenant hasn’t paid the rent yet, so I’m going to hold off on sending you the mortgage?”  The answer of course is “Never!”  Or, have you called your bank and said, “Hey man, the roof needs to be replaced so I’m going to pay to get that fixed and then I’ll send your payment next month.”  Of course not.

Landlords get silly calls like that all the time – “hey man, my mother was sick and I had to pay her emergency room bill, so I can’t pay the rent this month.  Is that Okay?”  And worse than that, when the place is vacant, they still have to make the mortgage payment.

Like the old Calgon Bath Beads ad, I offer to take them away from all that landlord crap.  Instead, they can be the banker – going to the mailbox and collecting checks each month, regardless of what is happening with their old property.

So, if you know anyone who is tired of being a landlord, send them my way.  If I buy their house(s) I will definitely give you a piece of the action.

I will help you build your own real estate investing business from the ground up.  And, you will make money while you learn.  I will teach you how to find great deals and I will take you by the hand and move you through the whole process to make your deals happen.  Heck, I’ll even go to the bank with you to cash your checks! 

You are probably asking yourself – why would Tom do this?  Doesn’t he worry that he’s creating competition for himself?  The answer is that competition doesn’t worry me.  There are so many great deals in the Charlotte market right now that I cannot possibly even find all of them, much less do all of them.  There is plenty and to spare.  Besides, I learned a long time ago that I really enjoy helping other people succeed.  So, if you have dreamed of making money in real estate like I do, now is the time to act.

You don’t have to quit your job either.  You can start this part time.  Once the checks start rolling in, you may decide it is time to get out of the corporate rat race – or you may decide you like having all that money coming in on the side in addition to your paycheck. Either way is fine.  Both models work well.  I know, I have done both.

I'm currently accepting new apprenticeship applications. I will not be accepting everyone, because to succeed in this business you have to be a go-getter.  Also, I have a limited amount of time available to teach and coach my apprentices, so the openings are very limited.

Weekly Wisdom Shot

We are living in the dash – no I am not talking about the hectic pace of our lives. 

If you visit a cemetery you will notice that the headstones have a birth date and a death date, usually separated by a dash.  That dash between birth and death is our life.  It can be nothing more than a dash, or it can be filled with meaning and significance.  The choice is up to us.

Laughter Doeth the Heart Good

A lawyer is standing at the gates to Heaven and St. Peter is listing his sins:

1)    Defending a large corporation in a pollution suit where he knew they were guilty
2)    Defending an obviously guilty murderer because the fee was high
3)    Overcharging fees to many clients
4)    Prosecuting an innocent woman because a scapegoat was needed in a controversial case

And the list goes on for quite a while.  

The lawyer objects and begins to argue his case.  He admits to all of these things, but argues, “Wait, I’ve done some charity stuff in my life also.”

St. Peter looks in his book and says, “Oh yes, I see.  Once you gave a dime to a panhandler and once you gave an extra nickel to the shoeshine boy. Correct?”

The lawyer gets a smug look on his face and replies, “Yes, yes!”

St. Peter turns to the angel next to him and orders, “Give this guy 15 cents and tell him to go to Hell!”

WOW, SHOCK and AWE!

WOW!

It is Monday and I am still in shock and awe of what the Info Renegades, Jeff Vacek and Ken Preuss did for us here in Charlotte this past weekend.

I will tell you now what I told them after the class.

I have spent tens of thousands of dollars attending training events all over the US.  Of all those expensive, 3 day classes this was the best one for teaching both the principles behind what needed to be done and the practice of how to make it happen.

There are no teasers here.

I have gone to three-day events, where I paid thousands of dollars and found that what I was taught was either just enough to whet my appetite for the real meat (for which I would have to pay for a follow-up class), or that what I was taught was working several years ago, but not today.

Jeff and Ken teach what they are doing in their business today. 

If you were invited and didn't show up, you missed out on an amazing class.  If you want to learn how to tap into the power of the internet for your marketing efforts, these guys are the real deal.

They taught us four different models we can use to make money with digital products and they taught us how to make them a reality.  They didn't just give us warm and fuzzy ideas with unbelievable promises, instead they gave us practical, actionable instruction with realistic expectations.

I am so excited to apply what I have learned from them.  Like so many others, I have heard the promises of how I can use the internet to get paid for what I know.  Others have told me to do this or that, but they never told me how exactly I could accomplish what they told me and more, how I could set it up right so that I could actually make money doing it.

Only recently was I able to get my ecommerce site, www.APlusResults.com up and running correctly after several years of bumbling around, and I was able to do that after spending about an hour going through materials that Jef and Ken gave me on a thumb-drive when I first met them earlier this year.

Now, thanks to their instruction, I can sell some of the digital products I developed over the years while helping people learn to Get and Keep the Job You Want (TM). I created them and delivered them by hand to my coaching clients.  Other than that, they weren't available to anyone except my coaching clients who were paying me hundreds of dollars for each session with me.  Now, I can make them available to a everyone without having to charge them hundreds of dollars for my time or run myself ragged with printing and distributing them.

Of course, after this weekend, I realize I will need to revise a lot of what is happening in my storefront, but it will be all to the good.

I was so impressed with the value and integrity that Jeff and Ken deliver that I told them I would promote them whenever and whatever they do.  I admit it...

I have become a Raving Fan of the Info Renegades.

And, as if giving us amazing content wasn't good enough, they WOWed us by bringing in JT Foxx and Dr. Nido Qubein to speak with us.  Admitedly, JT Foxx wasn't at the top of his game.  He was too ill to catch his flight to LA and was trying to recover in his hotel room.  But his mentor, Dr. Qubein threw down a challenge to him to see if he could still deliver high quality, high content, high value instruction even when he was feeling terrible.  So, instead of just trying to recover and recuperate in his room, he came down and gave us about two hours of high octane material that he hasn't put in front of the room before.

Of course, I cannot say enough about Dr. Qubein. He is currently the President of High Point University in High Point, North Carolina and the Chairman of Great Harvest Bread Company.  On top of that he is on the board of directors of several major corporations (Dots, LazEBoy, BB&T, and others).  If you have never had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Qubein speak, then you have missed one of the wonderful experiences this life has to offer.  I can say that I have been able to sit with him for hours in several different settings and I cannot hear him without coming away transformed and inspired to go from success to significance.

While he was there, I was pleased to have the opportunity to present Dr. Qubein with a copy of my new book, "Fire Yourself: Get the Job You Want, A No BS Guide."  He read an advance copy and allowed me to publish his comments on the back cover of the book.  He said,

“If everyone applied these principles consistently, it could affect dramatic change in the workplace yielding greater results and productivity. Results rule, and this book proves that.”

It still stuns me that this entire, three day class was mine for just a $100 seat reservation fee, which they refunded to me, just as they promised! What really kills me though is how many people I know right here in the Charlotte area who could have really benefitted from this and they didn't take action. There was a couple there who flew all the way from Australia just for this class!
I will say it again, if you have a business that does any kind of internet marketing and you have a chance to attend one of these events with Jeff Vacek and Ken Preuss (The Info Renegades), you definitely need to make the investment of time and money even if you have to go Australia to do it.
